The “old-style” one part green paper Driving licence or the “new style” photo card licence. We also require either your national insurance number (required to do an online licence check for endorsements, entitlements etc) or a DVLA check code which you can obtain from the DVLA website at www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.

D1 Class Driving Licences are usually available to hirers who passed their test prior to 1st January 1997 and still hold a full clean valid Driving Licence. The D1 legally permits you to drive any minibus with up to 17 seats (including drivers seat) for private or hire and reward purposes.

C1 Class Driving Licences are usually available to hirers who passed their test prior to 1st January 1997 or for hirers who have successfully qualified at this level of driving competence. The C1 legally permits you to drive vehicles up to and including 7.5 Tonnes with a trailer up to 750KG.

If you would like to independently check the type of vehicles that you can drive on your current licence then you can view the latest legislation at www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence

  • If you are planning a trip to the tip, please advise at the time of booking as not all of our vehicles will go under the barrier.

All V015 group vehicles will go under the barrier but not all V020 group vehicles will, so unless you specify when you book, we cannot guarantee the correct van for you on collection.

Also, as of 1st December 2021, if you are visiting your local Household Waste Recycling Centre to dispose of household waste using a van or a twin axle trailer you will need a permit. The permit is free of charge. You can find out more by visiting www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com/vanpermit

  • Two forms of identification dated within the last eight weeks with your name and residential address (gas/electricity bills, bank or building society statements etc) are required in addition to the sight of your Driving Licence. We also require either your National Insurance number OR a DVLA check code. To obtain the code please visit www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence.

Passports are, unfortunately, not acceptable as they do not show your address.

A standard excess of £1500 is applicable to Hirers with a clean driving licence. An increased excess might be applicable if you have certain convictions on your licence. Please declare any penalty points you have at the time of booking as we are unable to insure for some endorsements (DR10, IN10, TT99 etc).

7.5 Tonne vehicles and over being hired for business use require the customers own fully comprehensive insurance and must be accompanied by a valid operators licence.

Windscreen damage is the responsibility of the Hirer.

If the hire vehicle is stolen whilst the keys are left in the vehicle or in the ignition, the Insurance Cover is invalidated and the Hirer is responsible for the FULL REPLACEMENT COST OF THE VEHICLE.

Customers are fully responsible for all costs incurred in regards to overhead damage.

  • Unfortunately, road traffic accidents do occur from time to time. If you are involved in an RTA, then immediately contact our offices on 0161 797 6217 and we will help you with the recovery of the vehicle. We can arrange a replacement vehicle if needed.
