AGE OF HIRER

Cars less than 1500cc and Ford Transit Vans - Hirers must be between 23 and 70 years old with a current full and clean driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

Cars between 1500cc and 2001cc and other Vans, Trucks and Tractors - Hirers must be between 25 and 71 years old with a current full and clean driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

Vans,Trucks and Tractors 7.5 Tonnes and over - Hirers must be between 25 and 70 years old with a current full and clean C1 Class driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

Ford Galaxy 7 Seat Diesel and Ford Mondeo Estate - Hirers must be between 28 and 70 years old with a current full and clean driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

Minibuses12, 15 and 17 Seats - Hirers must be between 30 and 70 years old with a current full and clean D1 Class (or equivalent) driving licence held for a minimum of 2 years.

If you are over 70 then, subject to a satisfactory declaration, BURY VAN HIRE may still be able to hire a vehicle to you. However, this would be subject to sight of your valid fully comprehensive insurance documentation at the time of hire. We would recommend that you call our Help Desk on 0161 797 6217 for specific advice.

DRIVING LICENCE

You will need to provide Bury Van Hire with originals of either:

The “old style” one part green paper Driving licence or the “new style” 2 part photo card licence including the paper document which show details of endorsements and vehicle categories that you are qualified to drive.

In cases of difficulty, we are able confirm Driving Licence details by contacting the DVLA Hotline during their opening hours. Any such calls will be subject to a £7.00 charge.

D1 Class Driving Licences are usually available to hirers who passed their test prior to 1st January 1997 and still hold a full clean valid Driving Licence.

C1 Class Driving Licences are for hirers who have successfully qualified at this level of driving competence.

IDENTIFICATION REQUIRED

Two forms of identification dated within the last six weeks with your name and residential address (gas / electricity bills, bank or building society statements etc) is required in addition to sight of your Driving Licence.

Passports are, unfortunately, not acceptable as they do not show your address.

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS

Additional drivers are permitted subject to the same Age, Licence and Identification Procedures as the first driver. Each additional driver is subject to a charge of £12.00 per day.

PAYMENT

Payment is accepted by all major Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Personal Cheques (with Bank Guarantee Card) and Cash.

A returnable Deposit is required at the start of the Hire Period.

The amount of the Deposit will vary depending on the type of vehicle. Deposits are asked for to cover possible damage, parking / speeding fines, fuel contamination, fuel losses etc.

Unused deposits are fully returned to the Hirer at the end of the Hire Period.

INSURANCE

All vehicles (except vehicles larger than 7.5 Tonnes) are covered by BURY VAN HIRE’S own fully comprehensive insurance.

A standard excess of £500 is available to Hirers with a clean driving licence increasing by £100 per 3 points per licence. A reduced excess of 50% (i.e. to £250 for a clean licence pro rata etc) can be obtained at a cost of £8.00 per day, £40 per week and £15 for weekend hire.

7.50 Tonne vehicles and over require the customers own fully comprehensive insurance and must be accompanied by a valid operators licence.

Windscreen damage is the responsibility of the Hirer.

If the Hired Vehicle is stolen whilst the keys are left in the ignition, or the vehicle whilst on hire the Insurance Cover is invalidated and the Hirer is responsible for the FULL REPLACEMENT COST OF THE VEHICLE.

BREAKDOWN COVER

All our vehicles include 24 hour emergency national breakdown cover. In the unlikely event of your vehicle breaking down, please refer in the first instance to the breakdown documentation given to you at the time of hire. It is important that you keep the documents accessible to you during the Hire Period..

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

Unfortunately, road traffic accidents do occur from time to time. If you are involved in an RTA , then immediately contact our offices on 0161 xxx xxxx and we will help you with the recovery of the vehicle. We can arrange a replacement vehicle if needed.

PARKING TICKETS, SPEEDING FINES, CONGESTION CHARGES

You are responsible in full for any traffic infringement. BURY VAN HIRE accepts no responsibility for any traffic fine or payment. You are obliged to inform BURY VAN HIRE of any fines or parking tickets etc. whilst the vehicle is being used by you.

Any fines, parking tickets or avoidance of congestion charges etc. which are notified to BURY VAN HIRE after the Hire Period has ended, and occurred during the hire period, is still the full responsibility of the hirer PLUS and additional BURY VAN HIRE administration fee.

TRAVELLING ABROAD

Foreign travel (N. Ireland is classed as UK territory) is permitted, subject to one week minimum hire and additional charges for insurance breakdown cover. Prior written consent is required from BURY VAN HIRE before any vehicle can be taken out of the UK.

TOWBARS AND ROOF RACKS

Towbars and Roof racks are available, by prior request, at £10.00 per day plus VAT or £56.00 per week plus VAT.

RETURNING THE VEHICLE

Simply return the Vehicle to BURY VAN HIRE where one of our staff will check over the vehicle for damage etc, with you, and sign of a check in report to indicate the end of the Hire period. We recommend that vehicles are returned with sufficient fuel as any fuel that we need to dispense will be added to your account.

LATE RETURN AND EXTENDED HIRE

If you wish to return the vehicle late, or extend the hire period, then it is important that you contact BURY VAN HIRE. We can then arrange for your extended insurance cover for your vehicle.

Any additional charges can be processed using your credit or debit card in the usual manner.
